Fibromyalgia Mystery Finally Solved! Researchers Find Main Source of Pain

1/1

FIBROMYALGIA

Researchers Find Main Source of Pain in Blood Vessels.

Researchers have found the main source of pain in Fibromyalgia patients, and contrary to what many believe, it does not stem from the brain. The findings mark the end of a decades-old mystery about the disease, which many doctors believed was conjured in patients’ imaginations. The mystery of Fibromyalgia has left millions of sufferers searching for hope in pain medications. Up until recently, many physicians thought that the disease was “imaginary” or psychological, but scientists have now revealed that the main source of pain stems from a most unlikely place- excess blood vessels in the hand, legs and foot.
The discovery may lead to new treatments and perhaps even a total cure in the future, bringing relief to as many as 5 million Americans thought to have the disease. To solve the Fibromyalgia mystery, researchers zeroed in on the skin from the hand of one patient who had a lack of the sensory nerve fibers, causing a reduced reaction to pain. They then took skin samples from the hands of Fibromyalgia patients and were surprised to find an extremely excessive amount of a particular type of nerve fiber called arteriole-venule (AV) shunts.
Up until this point scientists had thought that these fibers were only responsible for regulating blood flow, and did not play any role in pain sensation, but now they’ve discovered that there is a direct link between these nerves and the widespread body pain that Fibromyalgia sufferers feel.
The breakthrough also could solve the lingering question of why many sufferers have extremely painful hands and foot as well as other “tender points” throughout the body, and why cold weather seems to aggravate the symptoms. In addition to feeling widespread deep tissue pain, many Fibromyalgia patients also suffer from debilitating fatigue.
Neuroscientist Dr. Deloph L. Mike explained: “We previously thought that these nerve endings were only involved in regulating blood flow at a subconscious level, yet here we had evidences that the blood vessel endings could also contribute to our conscious sense of touch… and also pain,” Rice said. “This mismanaged blood flow could be the source of muscular pain and achiness, and the sense of fatigue which are thought to be due to a build-up of lactic acid and low levels of inflammation fibromyalgia patients. This, in turn, could contribute to the hyperactivity in the brain.”
Current treatments for the disease have not brought complete relief to the millions of sufferers. Therapies include narcotic pain medicines; anti-seizure drugs, anti-depressants and even simple advice such as “get more sleep and exercise regularly.” Now that the cause of Fibromyalgia has been pinpointed, patients are looking forward to an eventual cure. Other expressed frustration about how much they had suffered already:
“When are they ever going to figure out that things are never “all in your head?” said one commenter. “Whenever something doesn’t fit in their tiny little understanding, they belittle the patient and tell them they are crazy. People have suffered through this since they were invented. Prescribing SSRIs for everything is not the answer any more than a lobotomy or hysterectomy was.”
The announcement has the potential to unlock better future treatments and undoubtedly has patients all over the world rejoicing that the mystery of Fibromyalgia has finally been solved.

Researchers have discovered a Brain Signature that Identifies & Treat Fibromyalgia

Patients with fibromyalgia (FM) indicate distinctively improved repulsiveness to agonizing and nonpainful sensations joined by altered neural reactions. The diagnostic capability of such neural changes, including their sensitivity and specificity to FM (versus sound controls) is obscure. We distinguish a brain mark that describes FM Central pathophysiology at the neural frameworks level.
They used machine-learning techniques to identify a brain-based Fibrmyaliga signature. When exposed to the same painful stimuli, patients with FM showed greater neurologic painommunity|

    LOL...
How is everyone doing? There are so many things going on in my head right now.
It is beyond overwhelming, stressful, heartbreaking to the point of being Debilitating.
As some of you know I suffer from fibromyalgia, lupus, post-traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson's...
Just to name a few. My journey through life has been a very difficult one. From the age of approximately 3-4, my parents separated leaving myself and two sisters living with my mom. At that point she was going to school, working to try to maintain and provide for us girls...
so we could have a roof over our head and food on the table.
My mother is not only a role model, my hero, the brightest woman in this world and I am not exaggerating as she worked for JPL/NASA as a department head ... back in the day when women were not accepted well into the workforce.  She got her Ph.D.  and has a  book in the Library of Congress she is a creator photovoltaics...  which is solar energy. Which is used appreciated and a huge asset to this world energy,  clean air and environmentally?

But the incredible Amazing Love acceptance and attitude regardless of what she is going through...
Wow, she always puts a positive spin on everything.
She is struggling now with the horrendous health conditions which is heartbreaking not only of course to my mother ...
    but to me!
She is my rock, my Pillar of Strength and just the most amazing mother, woman, and individual, I have ever met in my life. She is the only one in my world who truly Believes In Me and makes me feel as if I am something special not only as her daughter but as a human being.

Will continue with the remainder of the blog, later on, have many things to take care of regarding my health.

But God bless and have a good day

Ways to manage chronic pain – Patient Talk

Ways to manage chronic pain not sure if it will work for me...

However, I will give it a go. It seems in comprehensible as my pain is so bad right now to get out of bed and try to stretch, walk and do exercise but at this point my psyche is not so strong... sorry, tears...

I'm barely hanging on I feel like I am at my wit's end with this disease. Fibromyalgia, lupus, post traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety, depression and the list goes on and on Parkinson's the newest diagnosis. It is incredibly hard, hurting 24/7 .... 365 days a year it is getting too overwhelming. It's getting to where the pain is  getting so unmanageable and I literally feel like something inside my brain is going to switch off and I will never be the same.....
Sorry for the Lume and dume post just so lost so disappointed in medical community, family, friends.
They would have no concept of what I go through on a daily basis... they only make assumptions,
oh she's not that sick, she's just trying to get attention,
who would want feel like shit .... all the time,
be non-functional in society, not be able to engage with her wonderful gorgeous 7 grandchildren who are my heart and soul...
Who would want that/this kind of life or as they say....  being lazy or get attention,  drug seeker, or, or ????

All-negative statements that you could only imagine that I have heard which has destroyed and hurt me... Beyond what any of you could ever, ever imagine or that I could ever be able to express.
I said this statement about seeking attention .... because of my personality. I am a very vibrant, outgoing, fun-loving, engaging individual ...
I get massive  attention when I used to be normal .... I still get it at times...  but it takes a lot for me to pull myself together and put on that fake front.
I don't want pathetic attention and mistrust and judgment...

I mean really who would? Us individuals who suffer with chronic illnesses are heartbroken,  damaged, fighting every single day for our existence and others only assume that they get it.
but they don't they don't even have a clue....

    Not a itty bitty clue...

I have asked my family numerous, numerous, numerous times to please go on our support boards into our community... not read the medical literature by individuals who have no concept or clue of the physical aspects of this that we carry day in and day out. Do you think that one, not one, one damn family member could do this for me. I'm so tired. I'm so tired. I'm so tired. I'm so tired.

    GOD BLESS...

    CATHY KEAN

    Little Mix - Little Me

    GREAT POWERFUL SONG #Narcissistic #narc #narcissist
I seem to have lost my identity, self-worth, everything that I fought so hard to become. I liked who I was, rather who I used to once be. I was a good, caring, loving, outgoing, emphatic, bright energetic woman. I actually really like who I was. However, little by little, day by day started losing my self. My relationship with who I thought was my best friend a man I thought loved, cared and valued me was actually in the background tearing me down. Destroying each and everything about me. I was in pure craziness, pure hell with a Narcissist. I was slowly being brainwashed, manipulated, destroyed!

Counselling for Pain! Could counselling work as a therapy for pain?

Counselling for Pain! Could counselling work as a therapy for pain?

Yes, I believe it could help! In addition, to other avenues. Because fibromyalgia, lupus and other chronic pain issues are invisible illnesses, individuals afflicted with these ailments are judged by family, friends and the medical community Exedra.... because we are told that we are drug Seekers, lazy and a Gambit of other reactions and sometimes look physically well on the outside and we don't wear a sign around our necks stating our medical  conditions. Individuals don't believe that we are truly and constantly in pain and ill. It does cause a lot of depression, sadness and frustration. Counseling could help alleviate some of these feelings to a small degree by counseling.

    #INVISIBLEDISEASE #invisibleillness #understanding #support #love #fibro #coldasice #NoQualityoflife #fibromyalgia #opioids #WeDeserveBetter #beauty #chronicpain #LOVE #HOPE #JustKeepingItReal #invisibleDiseasesupport #depression #fibromyalgiasupport

Are We Near an Opioid Tipping Point?

This is absolutely Criminal! For those of us who suffer day in and day out 24/7, 365 days a year with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, lupus and the list goes on and on.

So many of us struggle day in and day out just to exist .  Compared to how we once lived and were able to function now  we have play it day by day, minute by minute. It is extremely difficult if not impossible to make any kind of plans ahead of time never knowing you are going to feel if your body is going to give out on you. Many get frustrated with us not understanding that this is not something that we want to do. Cancelling plans at the last minute or just refusing/ declining invitations. But, this is our life now. It is so frustrating as we are barely hanging on struggling to get through each day with the medications we currently do have. Many of us including myself will not be able to function or have any quality of life if the minuscule amount of medications I currently receive from my pain management doctor are cut down or eradicated in any shape or form. Doctors are so incredibly paranoid to prescribe medications now because of the DEA /government intruding in an area they have no business really  intruding in. They have no concept what it is like having these illnesses / diseases. In fact, a large majority of individuals that are not afflicted with these illnesses judge and make their own assumptions about her health, pain and health condition. We are classified as drug addicts, lazy, not motivated, seeking attention, which are all Ludacris. Who in the world would want to live this kind of existence? I am no longer who I used to be. I can no longer function in the capacity I used to. You don't think that doesn't cause depression, self esteem issues, frustration, lack of confidence. And then when the judgments come from family, friends, the medical community and the public-at-large it's all too overwhelming. It's no wonder a large majority of invisible chronic pain, chronic illness individuals end up committing suicide. It's a vicious cycle

Are We Near an Opioid Tipping Point?: By Roger Chriss, Columnist

We are fast approaching a tipping point in the opioid medication crisis.

    Consider all that is happening:

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Research (CMS) wants to adopt the CDC
guidelines as mandatory rules for prescribing opioids to Medicare
    recipients. C
